Your Privacy Matters

SayTheWord is built with privacy at its core. There are no accounts, no logins, and no profile stored on our servers. Your personal thoughts and safety setup stay on your device.

What Stays on Your Device

• Journal entries: stored locally in your browser (PIN-locked entries are additionally encrypted). We cannot read them.
• Your word and your all-clear: stored locally only.
• Your circle: names and phone numbers are stored locally on your device — not in a cloud account.
• Your name and phone number (if you add them for alert messages): stored locally.

What Leaves Your Device — Only When You Trigger It

• Safety alerts: when you say your word, start Walk With Me, or send a message to your circle, the message text and recipient phone numbers pass through our SMS relay so the text can be delivered. Alert messages can include your location if you choose to share it.
• Phone verification: if you verify your own or a contact's number, that number is sent to our verification service to deliver a confirmation text.
• Dictation: if you journal by voice, your browser sends the audio to its own speech service (Apple's or Google's, depending on the device) to turn it into text. We never receive it. Typing never leaves your device.

These messages are processed to deliver them and are not used for anything else.

Website Analytics

Our marketing pages and the non-sensitive blog articles use basic, aggregate analytics (page views) to understand what content is useful. There are no analytics on safety-related articles — those about abuse, monitoring, safety planning, dating or workplace safety — and none in the journal app itself.

Deleting Your Data

Settings → Delete all data erases your journal, your word, your circle, and settings from your device. Nothing is retained on our side because nothing was stored there. Deleted data does not come back.
